Visit to Sant Tukaram Shila Mandir in the temple town of Dehu in Pune
Dehu is the birthplace of Sant Tukaram Maharaj, a 17th century Marathi Saint of Varkari sampradaya. He was the devotee of Lord Vithoba(Vitthala), an avatar of God Vishnu. Sant Tukaram is known for his devotional poetry called Abhanga inspired by his devotion to Lord Vithoba. The poems cover a wide range of human emotions, life experiences and individual journey towards liberation, Moksha. He is considered as one of the most important figures in the Bhakti movement, emphasizing the importance of personal devotion to God.

The main entrance gate-maha dwaar has a statue of Sant Tukaram Maharaj boarded on a divine plane Garuda on his journey to Vaikuntha depicting that Lord himself comes to his beloved and sincere devotees to take them to his heavenly adobe. There are many small shops near the main entrance selling flowers, murtis, books and souvenirs. One can buy flowers and tulsi leaves for offering to the Lord in the temple.
